Under this bill introduced last week income from carried interests would be taxed 50% as ordinary income and 50% as capital gains income through taxable years ending before December 31, 2012, after which this income would be tax 75% as ordinary income and 25% as capital gains income. Several senators are seeking an exception for venture capitalists.
